Domain Validation
Understanding the domain validation process and what to expect.
Validation Process
Domain validation confirms you own the domain you're connecting. This prevents unauthorized domain connections.
How It Works
- Urumi provides unique DNS records to add
- You add these records at your domain registrar
- Urumi checks for the records automatically
- Once found, ownership is verified
- You proceed to final activation
Validation Status
The Domains page shows real-time validation status:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | Waiting for DNS records to be detected |
| Validated | Records found, ownership confirmed |
| Failed | Validation failed (see troubleshooting) |
What's Being Checked
During validation, Urumi checks:
- Record exists - The DNS record is present
- Correct value - The record value matches exactly
- Propagation - The record is visible globally
Validation Timing
| Scenario | Expected Time |
|---|---|
| Fast registrar | 5-15 minutes |
| Standard | 15-30 minutes |
| Slow propagation | 1-4 hours |
| Maximum | 24 hours |
Don't Worry
It's normal for validation to take some time. The process continues even if you navigate away.
Automatic Detection
You don't need to manually refresh or check status:
- Urumi polls for validation automatically
- The page updates when status changes
- You'll see the next step once validation completes
Multiple Records
Some domains require multiple validation records. Each record shows its own status:
- All records must be added
- Each validates independently
- All must be validated before proceeding
Re-entering the Process
If you navigate away during validation:
- Return to Settings > Domains
- You'll see the current validation status
- Continue where you left off
Your validation progress is preserved.
